We often set New Year’s resolutions at the start of a new year— things that we want to achieve before the year ends. While some people end up sticking to those habits or goals that they’ve committed to, others may not. I’m definitely one of those people. I said I wanted to get into the habit of running yet, it’s already the last few months of 2024 and I’ve still not started on it.
It’s not easy to form good habits but luckily, there are now apps to help keep you on track. Keep reading to discover my list of 5 best habit tracker apps of 2024.
How Does A Habit Tracker App Work?
A habit tracker app helps you to track habits and goals in many ways! You can expect to find common features such as a daily, weekly, and monthly calendar.
There are also options for you to add a new habit or your current mood as well as various challenges or resources to help you build healthy habits. You can use it to track your water intake, the amount of sleep you’ve had, exercise, and more.
The more times you complete your goal (habit), the more you will achieve a habit streak, to signify how long you’ve stuck to your new habits.
At the moment, there are several free habit tracker apps as well as paid ones. Let’s take a look at some of the best habit-tracking apps that offer both free and paid features.
5 Best Habit Tracking Apps, Tried and Tested
1. Me+ Daily Routine Planner
This app is by far one of my favorites for habit-building and planning my daily routine.
Me+ app is a free habit tracker app that is simple to use with a clean and minimal design. When you first download the app, you will be prompted to complete a quiz at the beginning so that the app can personalize a program or routine for you.
Upon completion, you can either subscribe to a premium version or continue to use the free version. Once you arrive at the main screen, you’ll see 4 functions at the bottom— routine, discover, tools and profile. Each function leads you to a different page with different interactions.
What I like about this app is that I can easily add a new habit and set notification reminders to repeat as many times as I want. On top of that, even as a free user, I have access to some pre-made routines that I can add to my daily routine and self-care tools.
If I feel like giving up on my habit on some days, I can always turn to these resources for motivation.
User Ratings: 4.8/5 Stars (App Store & Google Play)
Key Features:
- Daily routine planner for daily and morning routines.
- Checklist to track your daily habits, self-care plan, mood and progress.
- Set reminders
- Resources and tools on self-care and positive habit formation.
Price: Free and Premium version (from $7.99 to $69.99)
2. Habit Tracker
The habit tracker app is a simple habit tracker that is similar to Me+. It comes with a calendar, option to add new habits and an overall view to let you see your current progress. What makes it a great habit-tracking app is that it allows you to sync with Apple Health.
For example, if you are adding any physical activity or water intake as a new habit, there will be a prompt to allow access to your Apple Health app and keep the data synced. It is also compatible with Apple Watch users.
Additionally, a feature that I personally found to be super cool is the ‘Group’ feature where you can add and share your habits with a friend or a loved one. This helps to keep you accountable and at the same time, forge closer bonds with your friend or family. A big yes to this!
The only downside to this is that on the free version, you are only limited to five habits per day. This means that you would not be able to track all your habits unless you upgrade to a pro version. However, it is still overall a good app to use.
User Ratings: 4.8/5 Stars
Key Features:
- Auto tracking of habits with Apple Health
- Option to create custom habits
- Option to build good habits or quit bad habits
- Track habits with people you care about with Group feature
- Home screen widgets to add to your home screen

3. Productive – Habit Tracker
Productive Habit Tracker app comes with a smart and sleek interface for users to enjoy. Similar to other habit-tracking apps, you will have to complete an on-screen quiz at the start before you are able to try out the features.
When setting a new habit, the app allows you to choose between creating your own or picking from their pre-made list of habits. The list of habits that you select would be dependent on the goals that you have set for yourself.
Some of the habits that you can choose from are based on whether you are looking to sleep better, relieve stress, boost productivity or build small habits.
On this app, you are also able to explore and join challenges that other users have taken part in, view a summary of your statistics and explore free articles and resources.
To gain access to more detailed statistics of your habits or track your diet, physical activity and productivity, you would need to subscribe to the pro version. It can be quite costly.
However, if you are not ready to commit, you can always try out a free trial!

4. Structured
The Structured app is more of a daily planner rather than habit tracking. However, you can still use it to track your habits by adding it to your to-do list.
This app combines all your tasks and to-do list into a single timeline so that you are able to be more organized and keep track of all you need to do for the day.
I would say that this app focuses on a simple and efficient way of planning everything that you have set for the day or week.
Personally, I would prefer something a little more visual and more exciting for me to use an app consistently. But, I do see this helping those who need a little more structure (pun intended) or organization in their lives.
User Ratings: 4.8/5 Stars (App Store), 4.7/5 Stars (Google Play)
Key Features:
- Manage your daily tasks and habits in a single timeline
- Break down larger tasks with notes and sub-tasks feature
- Enhance your focus with a dedicated timer and interactive widget
- Able to use it across all devices to synchronize your tasks
Price: Free or Premium version (From $2.99 to $49.99)
5. Habit Rabbit
Habit Rabbit is by far one of the cutest ways to track your habits!
This app works by introducing your pet rabbit which you can give a name to. From there, you will be about your goals and whether you’d like to journal and track your mood.
It is designed to be a game where you are supposed to take care of your rabbit by completing tasks such as doing the laundry, making the bed, and more. However, to do so, you’ll need to spend energy which can be obtained by selecting a habit and setting a time to complete it.
The more that you complete these habits, the more rewards you get to earn, helping your rabbit to level up.
I really love how interactive and fun this app makes for habit tracking, and it is also suitable for both adults and children. If you are a parent who struggles with getting your child to get into the habit of cleaning their room, this is a good solution to introduce them to!
User Ratings: 4.7/5 Stars (App Store), 4.5/5 Stars (Google Play)
Key Features:
- Make your rabbit’s home cleaner by completing habits
- Earn carrots to customize your rabbit and design its house
- Receive motivation quotes or productivity tips from your rabbit
- Cheer you on every time you’ve completed a habit
