The bullet journal is known for being a great tool in developing habits for yourself. From reading, grooming, hobbies, and mental health, the possibilities for self-improvement are only limited by what you can think of. This, of course, includes fitness bullet journal ideas for self improvement.

    Does A Fitness Journal Help?

For many people getting fit and staying fit can feel like an impossible task. But a weight loss journal will help keep you on track and make sure you see progress.

Here are some fitness bullet journal ideas. Keeping a bullet journal fitness tracker can help people with any of these goals:

    1. Track progress

Most individuals begin a new exercise program with the best intentions, but may fall short of their goals or end up abandoning them altogether. Maintaining an exercise journal helps a person keep track of progress and see firsthand if he or she is sticking to a steady exercise routine.

    2. The key to celebration

One of the most encouraging acts you can do in your life is to track your progress. It’s one thing to crave progress and another thing to start measuring it. That’s when the workout journal comes in handy.

When you’re able to see just how far you’ve come by looking back in your fitness journal, you’ll feel more motivated to keep moving forward.

    3. Helps you face the truth

A weight loss journal or fitness journal will help you analyze what you’ve really been doing to achieve your fitness goals.

Some people think they simply have “bad genetics,” yet when they look at what they’ve really been doing through the fitness journal, they may see that their eating and exercise habits haven’t gone in the right direction.

    4. Recognize patterns

Have you ever wondered why you feel a lack of motivation one day and then feel like exercising for two hours on another? A weight loss journal or fitness journal can help you see patterns in your behaviors. In the end, what gets measured gets managed.

What Can I Track In Fitness Journal?

If you like to weigh-in daily and count calories, more power to you, but I know they don’t work for me. Figuring out what works for you is really the key to being successful in anything.

Whether you’re keeping your own journal, using a custom fitness journal, or using an app on your phone, the process is relatively similar. What you choose to track is up to you, but here are a few general metrics to include in an entry:

    • Record date/time
    • Current body weight
    • Food/calorie intake
    • Workout or training method
    • Mood

Here are a few additional details you can include:

    • Sleep duration
    • Progress photos
    • Recipes
    • Fitness goals/targets
    • Inspirational quotes
    • Personal achievements

Determining your goals will help you decide what kinds of metrics you want to keep track of and the best ways to keep you focused on your journey.

How Do You Track Fitness In Bullet Journal?

    1. Don’t leave anything out

“Your workout plan should, first and foremost, have every single exercise written down,” says Gambino. Don’t forget reps, sets, tempos, rest breaks, and weights or equipment settings.

Include a baseline for yourself in your journal, too, bodyweight, mile PR, body fat percentage, or maybe personal records on the exercises you care most about. On top of looking back on your workouts (and building off of them) it’ll help you easily track progress over time, remind you of any goals you have, and motivate you to work toward them.

    2. Get in touch with how you feel

Tracking how you feel and perform session-to-session highlights opportunities to jump ahead and push your pace, as well as times when you might benefit from a little added recovery instead.

Be sure to also note specifics such as any pain, increased tightness, or what you did the day leading up to training for a bigger-picture view of your performance.

    3. Jot down the good

We’ve all wracked our brains for that workout that kicked our ass in a good way or that exercise we wish we remembered exactly how to do. Write that stuff down.

The gym is also a great place to contemplation and brainstorming if you work out alone. Write down your best unrelated-to-fitness thoughts, too; maybe you finally thought of the perfect gift for your partner right after you racked your dumbbells.

To get the most out of your journaling, here are a few things to keep in mind:

    1. Try to record every day. Even if that means you journal about why you didn’t work out, stick to it!
    2. Set a reminder to record for 5-10 minutes- before bed is a great time to do it!
    3. Be honest!
